Experience India Through Sound
Nothing comes close to first hand experience. Pictures give you an impression of visual splendour. Souvenirs can help you remember the good times. Even foods, brought home, can revive the excitement of foreign travel.
Sounds, however – crucial to atmosphere – are rarely recorded when travelling. They can give a fantastic insight into what it feels like to be somewhere.
On my recent trip around Asia and New Zealand, I took with me an iPod equipped with microphone and recording software. I recorded hundreds of clips of everything from musical performances to traffic noise.
The task of sorting, editing and compiling has taken a while but here, for the first time, is my opening collection; India in sound…
